Fencing & Decking · Huntsville & North Alabama

Built by a framer.Priced bythe board.

Decks and fences are framing you can see. Forty years of it goes into the footings you can't. Every board, post, bag of concrete, and hour of labor is its own line on your quote — and tear-out of the old one is always included.

Three decks. Same frame under all of them.

The structure — footings, posts, beams, joists, hardware — is built the same way regardless of what you walk on. The surface is where you choose.

Dry Space Below™

The room under your deck is wasted. Fix that.

A second-story deck drips on everything below it. Our under-deck drainage system seals the deck frame with a seamless liquid rubber membrane so rain runs to a gutter instead of onto your patio — turning the space below into dry, usable square footage.

It's the same water-management thinking we put on a roof, applied to a deck. Works on new decks and most existing ones.

What it does

  • Seamless membrane — Ames Blue Max liquid rubber, sprayed over the assembly; no panels to rattle or leak at the joints
  • Sloped to a gutter — water leaves the way it should
  • Protects the frame — joists and beams stay dry, so the deck lasts longer too
  • Finished ceiling optional — leave it clean and utilitarian or close it in

Fences that are still straight in year ten.

A fence is a row of posts with boards on it. If the posts are right — deep enough, set in concrete, ground-contact treated — the fence lasts. If they aren't, nothing you do to the boards matters.

We build wood privacy, picket, and horizontal fences in YellaWood treated pine, with staining available; vinyl privacy and semi-privacy fence that never needs paint; and framed-wire and farm fence on treated posts. Tear-out and haul-off of the old fence is in every quote, not an add-on.

Comparing bids? Ask each one five questions.

If the answers are on the page, take the bid. If they aren't, you don't have a price yet — you have a bluff.

  1. Is tear-out and disposal in the number?Hauling off the old deck or fence is a real cost. If it's missing, the bid isn't complete.
  2. What's the post footing depth, and is concrete included?Shallow posts are how a fence leans in three years.
  3. What grade of lumber, and is it treated for ground contact where it needs to be?"Treated pine" covers a lot of ground. Ask for the brand and grade.
  4. What fasteners — and are they rated for treated lumber? The wrong screws corrode inside the wood. You won't see it until a board lets go.
  5. Who's actually building it, and will the owner be on site?Same crew every time, or whoever's available this week.

Let's frame it right.
